Perry junior Grace Marburger powers a kill through the CMB defense as Taylor Lathrum (14), VIctoria Hegstrom (rear) and Ellie Nielsen (8) await a possible block during the Perry Tournament last Thursday.

HUXLEY — The Perry volleyball team fell to 7-11 overall and 0-2 in Raccoon River Conference play after coming up on the short end of 25-16, 26-24 and 25-15 scores against host Ballard Tuesday.

“We had 16 hitting errors and that helped make it a frustrating night,” Jayette head coach Kristel Schultz said. “We are still focusing on keeping the momentum and not letting the other team have huge point comebacks.”

Perry played the first set without senior Ellie Nielsen, who is nursing a sore ankle. Nielsen played in the second and third sets, but her effectiveness was hampered by the injury.

Sidney Vancil had 18 assists for Perry and served 14-of-15 with two aces.

Grace Marburger led the offense with nine kills, with Jo Diw adding eight kills. Marburger had seven digs, Vancil five and Diw four, with Mariah Duffy and Sydney Guerra tallying two digs apiece.

Perry is off Thursday and Saturday and will return to action Tuesday when they host Bondurant-Farrar for an RRC match.
