It is with great sadness that the family of Benjamin Caldwell Lewman, 21, of Holstein announces his passing following a gunshot wound April 14, 2019.

Ben was born June 15, 1997, to Neil and Amy (Strang) Lewman.

He attended Prairie Valley schools and graduated from Prairie Valley High School in 2015 before attending Iowa Central Community College for diesel technology.

Ben was known for living his life to the fullest and doing the things he loved with everything he had. He loved driving and fixing trucks, going on unexpected adventures with friends, camping and riding ATVs.

He was a dedicated boyfriend and “dad” to his two cats, Tango and Banjo, and his puppy, Oliver.

Ben is lovingly remembered by his mother, Amy Lewman of Jefferson; and his father, Neil Lewman of Farnhamville. He also leaves behind his brother, Jason Weinkauf; his sister, Sadie Lewman; his girlfriend, Savannah Nelson; his great-grandmother, Pauline Lewman; his maternal grandfather, Laurence Strang; his paternal grandparents, Susan and Norman Lewman; his nephew, Rowan; and many aunts; uncles; cousins; and friends.

Ben left this earth too early for us to understand, but he continues to move mountains even in death. As a registered organ donor, in losing his life, Ben saved many others. Through organ and tissue donation, Ben’s gifts will touch the lives of up to 307 people.

A celebration of Ben’s life will be held at the Central Lodge of Dolliver State Park in Lehigh, Iowa, Sunday, May 5 at 12:30 pm.

Those who so desire may make memorial donations in the memory of Ben to PAWS of Greene County at pawsofgreenecounty.org.

Hastings Funeral Home in Jefferson was in charge of arrangements.
