Big first half carries Ogden boys past Woodward-Granger

OGDEN — A 14-4 scoring burst in the first quarter helped create 32-14 halftime bulge as Ogden rumbled past Woodward-Granger, 63-40, in WCC boys basketball Tuesday.

After using an 18-10 second-quarter edge to generate the intermission gap the Bulldogs outscored the Hawks by four points in the third frame to lead, 48-26, entering the fourth stanza.

Ogden (2-4, 2-3) was led by 18 points apiece from Bryce Snedden and Nathan Kennedy, with Graham Tews adding 15 points.  Andrew Haberer and Noah Snedden scored six points each to cap the Bulldog attack.

Nick Squires had 17 points for W-G (1-4, 1-4), with Marcus McConahay and Bodie Harrison adding eight points apiece while Brady Aunspach scored five points and Brody Easter two. Squires pulled down seven rebounds, with Aunspach and Harrison grabbing five apiece while Aunspach and Derick Morgan each distributing two assists.

W-G plays at Madrid Friday, with the Tigers hosting a “red-out” in honor of Hawk junior Drew Jacobson. All fans are asked to wear red, Jacobson’s favorite color, to the game. A visit to Panorama Tuesday caps the pre-holiday season for W-G.
