Funeral services for Billie Hargens, 83, of Perry will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20 at Murdock Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the funeral service Wednesday. Burial will be in the Violet Hill Cemetery.

Billie passed away Saturday, Nov. 16, 2019, at MercyOne West Des Moines Medical Center in West Des Moines, Iowa.

Memorials to the family in Billie’s name may be left or sent to Murdock Funeral Home.

Billie Dale Hargens was born May 10, 1936, in Manning, Iowa, the son of Christian Paul and Anna (Wiese) Hargens.

He attended school in Manning and married Marlene Otto on Nov. 11, 1955, and later divorced. They were the parents of two daughters, Bobbi Jo and Sonya.

Billie enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1958 and was Honorably Discharged in 1960.

He lived in Perry and worked for Oscar Mayer until his retirement.

Billie married Mimi Fagen, Joyce Walker and Lou Fredericksen, and they all preceded him in death.

Billie was a member of the American Legion and the Moose Lodge. He loved to go fishing, bowling, golfing, motorcycle riding, playing cards and camping, and many hours were spent playing slow pitch.

Preceding Billie in death were his parents; four wives; five brothers; five sisters; and two son-in-laws, David Sutter and Tim Waterbury.

Survivors include two daughters, Bobbi Hargens of Mitchellville and Sonya (Addison) Bacon of Des Moines; two step-daughters, Tammy (Christian) Elliott of Perry and Bobbie Seifert of Des Moines; eight grandchildren, Christian, Clark, Shandi, Zeb, Caleb, T. J., Crystal and Amanda; and six great-grandchildren, Shane, Caelix, Cobie, Haylee, Aubree and Kinlee.
