A pickup truck caught fire on the bypass in Perry Wednesday evening and brought a quick response from police and firefighters.
No injuries were reported in the incident.
Flames were visible underneath the vehicle when the fire was reported shortly before 5 p.m. at the intersection of Iowa Highway 141 and Iowa Highway 44 (First Avenue), according to public safety radio traffic.
The vehicle caught fire while in the left-turn lane of eastbound Iowa Highway 141 at First Avenue. The cause of the fire is unknown at this hour.
Officers of the Perry Police Department responded and controlled the blaze with fire extinguishers prior to the arrival of the Perry Volunteer Fire Department.
