Deepak Nayyar and Vaishali Nayyar, owners of the Blue Jay Market at 2810 Willis Ave. in Perry, have teamed up with Tri-State Christian Television to raise cash and donations for the many victims of this summer’s hurricanes in the Helping Hand Outreach program.

“We are asking everyone who comes in to donate,” Deepak Nayyar said Saturday, “because this is something that affects all of us as human beings.”

A cash drop box has been set up inside the store, and donations will be accepted through Friday, Oct. 6. Relief supplies are also needed, including donations of water, gatorade, non-perishable food items, diapers, baby wipes, adult diapers, undergarments, socks, cleaning supplies, clorox wipes, trash bags, zip lock bags, disposable gloves, mops and buckets, detergent, hand sanitizer and personal hygiene items.

Nayyar said his business is donating a pallet of bottled water, which equals 72 cases, and he encourages his customers and Perry-area residents to join the Blue Jay Market in the relief efforts.

The Helping Hand Outreach program is led by Tri-State Christian Television, a Midwest network of 10 religious television stations. TCT Network provides Christian programming such as teaching, preaching, family-based movies, music, documentaries, youth and children, live broadcasts and original content.
