CARROLL — Austin Sibenaller held visiting Perry to just one run on three hits as Kuemper Catholic posted a 10-1 non-conference win Thursday.

The Knights led, 1-0, after two innings when Perry scored in the top of the third to tie the game.

Janier Puente singled and moved up on a wild pitch, taking third when Alex Long reached safely on an error while attempting a sacrifice. Will Whiton’s sacrifice fly plated Puente moments later.

Kuemper responded by turning a hit batsman, a walk, two triples and an error into six runs in the bottom of the frame to pull away. Three additional runs in the bottom of the sixth accounted for the final score.

Puente added a double to his single and Kade VanKirk had a base hit to account for the Perry hits.

Sibenaller walked five and struck out four in earning the complete-game victory for the hosts.

Adam Schleisman had a double and a triple, with Joe Mohr and Calvin McDermott also producing three-base hits for the Knights.

Kyle Nevitt went three innings, allowing seven runs (five earned) on two walks while recording three strikeouts in being handed the loss. Puente pitched 2-1/3 frames, surrendering three runs on two hits and four walks while striking out two. Zach Roberts recorded two outs, allowing one hit and one walk while fanning one.

Perry (14-13) will conclude their regular season with trips to Pella Monday and Winterset Wednesday.
