Bluejay pep rally to be held Tuesday morning

Perry players celebrate as they are presented with a hard-earned and well-deserved "State Qualifier" banner after defeating Glenwood, 73-71, in overtime Monday in their Substate 8 Final in Atlantic.

The varsity gym at the Perry High School will doubtless be the scene of much excitement Tuesday morning when a pep rally is held to celebrate the Bluejays game that evening at the state tourney.

Seventh-seeded Perry (15-9) will battle second-seed Pella (22-1) in the Class 3A Quarterfinals at 8:15 p.m. Tuesday at the Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines. The winner advances to face the victor of the 6:35 p.m. contest between third-seed Spirit Lake (21-3) agnd six-seed Cedar Rapids Xavier (16-8) in the semifinal round. That game will be played at 8:15 p.m. March 10.

High school and middle school students will hold a pep rally to send off their Bluejays at 10:20 a.m. The public is invited to attend.
