Pella took a 51-34 lead to the locker room at halftime in boys state basketball play Tuesday night at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.
Janier Puente led Perry scoring with eight points, but the Bluejays trailed red-hot-shooting Pella 38-19 when Perry called time out with 5:25 left in the first half.
On a pleasant side note: Perry is the only one of the eight 3A schools to bring its band to tonight’s state tournament action.
