Roster depth worked in favor of Perry Tuesday as the Bluejay golfers managed a four-stroke win over Ogden at the Perry Golf and Country Club.

Ogden held a two-stroke lead after the two lowest scores from each team were calculated, but a three-stroke advantage for Perry on the third score gave the Bluejays a 135-136 lead. The fourth scores — 48 for the Jays and a 51 for the Bulldogs — allowed the hosts to claim a 183-187 victory.

Noah Wilkening shot a runner-up medalist round of 42 to lead Perry, with Kade VanKirk shooting a 46. Luke Rathje’s 47 put Perry into a one-shot lead, with Ran Rathje and Connor Nielsen each providing a 48 for use as the final score. Dane McCarty’s 49 was unused for the team tally.

Hunter Longnecker’s medalist 41 paced Ogden, with Zach Waterbury added a 45, Jacob Hildreth a 50 and Jacob Kathman a 51. Rounds of 52 from Jade Thompson and of 58 from Harry Haglund were not tabulated.

Perry sent eight junior varsity players around the links and Ogden 10, with the four lowest rounds from each team giving the hosts a 210-226 win.

Tanner Duffy (48), Justin Stammer (49), Brody Kimrey (55) and Tanner Darr (58) scored for Perry. Tyler Soll (59), Gabe Ridnour (61), Devin Patrick (83) and Izac Kinkennon (94) were also in action for the Jays JV.

Ogden scored rounds from Seth Bishop (49), Logan Sturtz (52), Jeff Olson (60) and Carson Hayes (65). Also on the links for the Bulldogs were Carter Stonehocker (72) and Brady Nelson (73) with Kayden Kruse (64), Preston Gronseth (65), Jacob Laws (78) and Darrian Ellinwood (82) playing but not having their scores available for consideration.
