The Perry boys followed their first win of the season Thursday over Woodward Academy with a victory Monday against West Central Valley. Both games were hosted by the victorious Bluejays.

The Perry junior varsity boys were also winners, defeating the WCV JV, 48-29, after the Bluejays (2-12) posted a 59-44 win over the Wildcats (3-13) in the varsity tilt.

The varsity game was a tight scrap for the first 16 minutes, with Perry leading, 12-8, after one quarter of play while holding only a 24-22 advantage at the intermission.

The Jays pulled away for the win by dominating the third quarter, 21-6, to begin the fourth quarter holding a 45-28 lead.

Holden Smith and Drake Levan each had 15 points for Perry, with Geren Kenney adding 13 points. Matthew Booker provided seven points, Zander Mahler five and Caden Steva four.

Perry sank only 3-of-15 attempted 3-point shots, but Kenney was 3-of-5 beyond the arc.

The Jays were much more accurate at the foul line, draining 12-of-15 free throws. Smith led the way, knocking down all seven of his tries from the charity stripe.

Mahler finished with 10 rebounds and four assists, with Kenney and Steva each making five steals while Owen Myers, despite being held scoreless, aiding the win by pulling down seven caroms.

Perry led, 24-16, at halftime of the JV game, and owned a 37-27 lead after three frames. An 11-2 run over the final eight minutes helped secure the win.

Myers and Eric Lagos each had 10 points, with Tyler Devilbiss and Trey Hofbauer scoring eight points apiece. Tyler Gomez added six points, Alex Ruiz four and Kaleb Lyddon two.

Perry will play in a boys JV/boys-girls varsity set at Roland-Story Tuesday before each varsity team entertains PCM Friday. The Bluejays will then host Atlantic Saturday for a JV/varsity boys-only set beginning at 4:30 p.m.
