Playing what head coach Tina Lutterman called “scared” softball, host Perry succumbed to Ballard, 17-0, in three fast innings Thursday.
Perry (1-11, 0-6) committed six errors, with five of them costly miscues in the outfield that led to a bevy of runs for Ballard (5-6, 3-3).
The Jayettes looked nothing like the team that nearly upset No. 11 Bondurant-Farrar Wednesday, yielding seven runs in the first inning, eight in the second and a final pair of tallies in the third.
Taylor Atwell had a single, Bella Nath reached on an error and Jayna Kenney drew a walk to account for the only Perry runners to reach base.
Eighth grader Brooklyn Baumgardener struck out three in picking up the pitching win.
Brynna Huen had a home run and a single, Maggie Larson a single and a double and Abby Husak a single and a double to lead a 13-hit assualt.
Kenney went 1-1/3 innings on the rubber, allowing 10 hits and walking two. She yielded 14 runs, but seven were unearned. Maci Tunink pitched 1-2/3 frames, allowing three hits and two walks with one strikeout. All three of the runs against Tunink were also unearned.
Perry hosts Winterset Tuesday, visits Woodward-Granger Thursday and then entertains Collins-Maxwell Friday.
