Ashley Cerna (3) serves for Perry Thursday as teammates Jayna Kenney (11), Quinn Whiton, Kacy Nevitt (facing), Jasmine Shriver (5) and Magley Orellana watch during a home tourney last autumn.

Visiting Ballard escaped Monday’s first set against Perry with a 26-24 win, helping set the stage for an eventual 3-0 win. The Bombers (8-12, 5-3) went on to win the second and third sets by scores of 25-13, and of 25-9, respectively.

Perry fell to 2-18 overall and 0-7 in Raccoon River Conference play. The Jayettes will cap their regular season Oct. 13 at Bondurant-Farrar (14-8, 5-2) and against ADM (1-15, 0-6) Oct. 15, their final two opportunities to collect a conference win.

Kacy Nevitt and Jasmine Shriver had five kills apiece for Perry, with Quinn Whiton and Peyton Tunink adding two each while Jayna Kenney had one. Kenney distributed eight assists, Whiton four and Taylor Atwell three.

Shriver had a team-best 14 digs, with Kenney making seven and Whiton and Addison Huntington five each. Atwell came up with four digs, with two digs apiece tallied by Nevitt, Tunink, Ashley Cerna and Lanie Fish. Nevitt had 2.5 blocks at the net, with Fish credited with an assisted block.

The hosts struggled serving the ball, finishing a combined 37-of-45 (82.2 percent) with only two aces.

Shrifver was 8-of-8 with an ace and Whiton 9-of-10 with an ace while Kenney was 6-of-6. Atwell finished 6-of-7, Nevitt 5-of-8 and Tunink 3-of-6.

Perry was to host a cadre of Des Moines public schools Thursday, but had to find replacements for the tourney when those schools cancelled their sports seasons. Roland-Story (17-4), DC-G (7-3) and Saydel (2-15) have signed on as replacement teams, with action set to begin at 4:30 p.m.

The Jayettes will then compete Saturday in the Indianola tourney, with games against the hosts (6-8) and Clarinda (5-13) already set.
