A late game-tying goal seemed to have given host Perry a shot of momentum, but Bondurant-Farrar stuck deep into the first overtime to steal a 3-2 win in Raccoon River Conference girls soccer action Tuesday.
Ranked 15th in 2A, B-F (5-2, 3-0) scored just shy of 14 minutes into the contest for a 1-0 lead, a margin that stood until slightly more than 22 minutes remained in the game, when a second Lady Jays score threatened to end the suspense.
The Jayettes (3-4, 1-2) were playing without senior Natalie Martinez, whose 15 goals are tied for third-most in the state. Sore ribs will sideline the prolific scorer for at least one more match.
Sophomore Kailey Crawford picked up the slack, ripping a blast off a direct kick that found the back of the west net at Dewey Field with 16:34 to play, halving Perry’s deficit.
Crawford forced overtime by scoring her sixth goal of the season with 3:17 left in regulation, junior Molly Lutmer providing the assist.
Bondurant-Farrar spoiled the fun for Perry with the game winner almost exactly eight minutes into the first 10-minute overtime period.
Odaly Perla had 12 saves in goal for the hosts.
Perry will host Boone Thursday before entertaining Des Moines Christian Tuesday.
