Bondurant-Farrar tops W-G in Wednesday softball

BONDURANT — Visiting Woodward-Granger found themselves holding a 3-2 lead after three innings at Bondurant-Farrar Wednesday. Then the offensive came alive for the hosts, with the Lady Jays scoring twice in the fourth and fifth innings and four times in the sixth for a 10-3 win in non-conference softball.

Emma Anderson had a single, a double, a run and a RBI for W-G (5-12), with Brylee Bice also having a single and a double while also being hit by a pitch. Chloe Houge and Katelyn Bandstra both had two singles and both scored once, with Bella McDivitt and Audrey Simmons each driving in a run while Gerogia Simmons drew a walk.

Rian Jamison was touched for 10 runs (seven earned) on 17 hits and a walk. She struck out two in being handed the loss.

Jacki Baas was the winner, yielding three runs on eight hits and one walk while striking out three.

Lily Engelbrecht had three singles and two RBIs and Macy Thurlby also had three hits. Addi Grosc swatted two doubles while Riley Gill drove in three runs with a home run and a single while Annika Dearden provided a single and a double.

W-G will open postseason play Wednesday when they host AC/GC. The winner plays with No. 6 Mt. Ayr or Nodaway Valley July 17 in Mt. Ayr. The Class 2A Region 2 Final will be played July 20 at a site yet to be determined. All games start at 7 p.m.
