Booneville man arrested for assault, brandishing knife

Cross Cullen Hines, 21, of Booneville was arrested Aug. 31 on charges of first-offense domestic abuse assault-use or display of weapon and first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness.

A Booneville man was arrested Aug. 31 after allegedly threatening his brother with a knife and then assaulting him with his fists.

Cross Cullen Hines, 21, of 28925 360th St., Booneville, was charged with first-offense domestic abuse assault-use or display of weapon and first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness.

The incident began about 11:45 p.m. Aug. 30, when Dallas County Deputy Sheriffs responded to “a report of a knife attack” in the 28900 block of 360th Street, according to court records.

According to statements from the victim and a witness, Hines first threatened the victim with a knife and then attacked the victim “with his fists.” The deputies observed the victim sustained “injuries in the form of contusions and a laceration to his left eye area and abrasions/superficial scraps to his neck.”

Hines was held in the Dallas County Jail prior to posting a $5,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for arraignment Sept. 24 in Dallas County District Court.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
