The Booneville UMC ice cream social is a summertime tradition of longstanding.

A hot Father’s Day Sunday evening at the scenic United Methodist Church in Booneville provided the perfect setting for two scoops of Americana at the annual old-fashioned ice cream social.

About 100 people attended the event.

A multitude of homemade pies, cakes and ice cream were available for the modest price of a free-will donation. Three types of homemade ice cream were served: vanilla, strawberry and chocolate Oreo.

Booneville is an unincorporated, hilly community lying in the southeast corner of Dallas County just west of the West Des Moines metropolitan area and east of Van Meter.
