A Bouton man was arrested Aug. 30 for allegedly driving his grandfather’s pickup truck without permission and without a driver’s license and on a warrant stemming from a February drug charge.

Brendan Robert James, 20, of 111 Jefferson St., Bouton, was arrested on Dallas County warrants for failure to appear on an original charge of first-offense possession of a controlled substance-marijuana, operating a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent and driving while license denied or revoked.

According to court records, James allegedly drove away in his grandfather’s vehicle Aug. 28.

“I called out to him not to drive my truck since he had no license,” the grandfather told Dallas County Deputy Sheriffs. “He cussed me and took off north. He knows not to drive the truck, as I have told him several times not to. He doesn’t listen to anybody.”

James is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $7,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for arraignment Sept. 17 in Dallas County District Court.
