Bradley W. Allen of Boone


Bradley W. Allen, 69, of Boone and formerly of Perry passed away Friday, July 3, 2020, at his home with his family by his side.

A private family service will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery in Boone.

Bradley Wade Allen was born to Sherman and Fern (Olson) Allen July 19, 1950, in Clark County, Iowa.

Bradley grew up in Perry, then moving to Des Moines for his senior year of high school.

Bradley was united in marriage with Kathy Porter Sept. 19, 1969, in Ogden.

Shortly after the wedding, he enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1970, and he was moved to Colorado and stationed in Germany for nearly two years.

Following his discharge from the U.S. Army, Bradley and Kathy moved to Perry for a new job. Bradley began working for the Minneapolis and St. Louis Railroad in Perry, where he worked until the railroad shut down.

Bradley then began to work at the Woodward Resource Center as a residential treatment worker, where he worked for 30 years before his retirement.

Bradley was a quiet and private man unless you got to know him well. He did everything with his wife, Kathy, whom he loved deeply. He cherished his family and loved his grandchildren.

He enjoyed slot machines at the casinos and playing video games with his grandchildren.

Bradley is survived by his wife of 50 years, Kathy Allen of Boone; children, Bradley W. Allen Jr. and Angela (James) Moreland of Perry; grandchildren, James Moreland III, Allison Moreland, Kevin Moreland, Heath (Hope Bucklew) Moreland, Justice Moreland and Alona Moreland; great-grandchildren, Avalynn and Remington Moreland.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sherman and Fern Allen; and his brother, Stanley Allen.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall streets in Boone.
