A GoFundMe campaign has been established for 10-year-old Irma Saraí Castillo of Perry.
“My little niece Irma is really sick, kidney failure and we are trying to raise funds to help her family,” said Karen Alexander Ventura Perla of Oskaloosa and formerly of Perry, who started the GoFundMe fundraiser. “She is currently in the hospital, doctors are saying she’ll need a transplant.”
Irma Saraí Castillo – Courageous Fight
On March 10, Irmita’s parents received the news that no parent wants to hear. A call from her doctor notified them that her life was in danger and needed to be moved fast to Blank Children’s Hospital. Her potassium levels had spiked, and her heart and other organs could start failing as a result.
At Blanks, they received more devastating news. Her kidneys were failing, and she had to be taken to the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital. There she received a blood transfusion, dialysis and is currently slowly recovering as there are other issues caused by her kidneys not working properly. Doctors say both of her kidneys have stopped working. She needs daily dialysis treatment and eventually needs a transplant.
Irma is full of life and love. She is 10 years old and loves to paint, play basketball, solve math problems, play with her siblings, and dog Romeo, and enjoys cooking. She reminds us that Jesus died for us and He loves us. We are praying for a miracle and God’s will in her life. Thank you to all who have been in constant prayer for her healing and recovery!

“Mi sobrina Irma está muy enferma, tiene insuficiencia renal y estamos tratando de recaudar fondos para ayudar a su familia”, dijo Karen Alexander Ventura Perla de Oskaloosa y anteriormente de Perry, quien inició la recaudación de fondos de GoFundMe. “Actualmente se encuentra en el hospital, los médicos dicen que necesitará un trasplante”.
La Lucha Valiente de Irmita Saraí
El 10 de marzo, los padres de Irmita recibieron la noticia que ningún padre quiere escuchar. Una llamada de su médico les notificó que su vida estaba en peligro y que debía ser trasladada rápidamente al Hospital Infantil Blank’s. Sus niveles de potasio se habían disparado y, como resultado, su corazón y otros órganos podrían comenzar a fallar.
En Blanks, recibieron noticias más devastadoras, sus riñones estaban fallando y tuvo que ser llevada al Hospital Infantil Stead Family de la Universidad de Iowa. Allí recibió una transfusión de sangre, diálisis y actualmente se está recuperando lentamente, ya que hay otros problemas a causa de que sus riñones no estaban trabajando correctamente. Los médicos dicen que los dos riñones han dejado de funcionar; ella necesita tratamiento diario de diálisis y eventualmente necesitara un trasplante.
Irma está llena de vida y amor. Tiene diez años y le encanta pintar, jugar baloncesto, resolver problemas de matemáticas, jugar con sus hermanos y su perrito Romeo, y le gusta cocinar. Ella nos recuerda que Jesús murió por nosotros y El nos ama. Estamos orando por un milagro y la voluntad de Dios para su vida. Gracias a todos los que han estado en constante oración por su sanación y recuperación!
