Serious sippers are invited to the fourth annual Dallas Center Home Brewers Fest Saturday from 5-9 p.m. at the Dallas Center Memorial Hall, 1502 Walnut St. in Dallas Center.
The event brings together several Dallas Center home brewers, who share more than a dozen of their beloved beers with fellow fermentophiles and in the process raise donations for local causes.
Berton Whited, a lead organizer of the Homebrews Fest and customer service manager at SuperFlow Tech Group in Des Moines, rattled off the names of this year’s potations, including Raspberry Wheat, Bavarian Wheat, Mosaic Multi Grain IPA, Marzen Oktoberfest, Viennia Festbier, Indian Brown Ale, Black Rye IPA, Black Ale, Robust Porter, Spiced Cherry Dubbel, American Stout Pale ale and a gluten-free Hard Apple Cider.
“We have also added two homemade sodas this year,” Whited said, “so we will have cream soda and root beer to sample.”
Entry to Homebrewers Fest is free, but donations are encouraged for the event’s chosen charities: the Dallas Center Food Pantry and the annual holiday Shop with A Cop program.
“There will be silent auction items and drawings for free stuff,” Whited said, “so bring your checkbook or cash, and be ready for a great time.”
