Burial service with military honors for Lewis Mason

Lewis Mason was born April 15, 1945, in Kewanee, Illinois, and passed away Aug. 10, 2020, in Manly, Iowa. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, Mason will be buried with military honors Oct. 9 at 10 a.m. in Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry.

A burial service with military honors for Lewis Mason will be held Friday, Oct. 9 at 10 a.m. at Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry, with Chaplain Lucas Murphy of the Iowa National Guard presiding.

The Patriot Guard Riders of Iowa will provide an escort for Mason from the Perry City Hall at 1102 Willis Ave. to his final resting place in Violet Hill Cemetery. The Patriot Guard procession will leave the Perry City Hall at 9:45 a.m.

Mason was born April 15, 1945, in Kewanee, Illinois, and passed away Aug. 10, 2020, in Manly, Iowa.

He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy.

Mason was united in marriage to Beverly Ellwanger Trinkle July 8, 1988, in Clear Lake, Iowa.

Little more is known of Mason, but the outreach of support for this veteran from the community and many different organizations has been immense, according to the city of Perry and the Dallas County Veterans Affairs office.
