KELLOGG, Iowa — A body was found burning in a rural Jasper County ditch Wednesday evening, according to a statement released by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI). Foul play is suspected.
The Jasper County Communication Center received a report about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday of a fire north of Kellogg in the 8100 block of North 67th Avenue East.
Responding emergency personnel found an active fire in the roadside ditch. After extinguishing the fire, the deceased body was located.
The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office and Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation are treating this death as a homicide, the DCI statement said. An investigation is ongoing, and additional information will be released when available.
