Car demolished in collision with school bus Thursday on U.S. 169

A Minburn woman was injured when her passenger car was rear-ended by an Ogden school bus shortly before 1 p.m. Thursday on U.S. Highway 169 north of Minburn.

A passenger car was demolished about 1 p.m. Thursday when it collided with a Ogden Community School District school bus on U.S. Highway 169 at 180th Street north of Minburn.

One person was transported with injuries by the Dallas County EMS.

The circumstances of the wreck are under investigation at this hour by the Iowa State Patrol and the Dallas County Sheriff’s office.

The Ogden bus came to rest facing south on the southbound shoulder of U.S. Highway 169. The car, which sustained extensive rear damage, came to rest facing south on the northbound shoulder.

None of the students, members of the Ogden cross-country squad en route a Class 1A state-qualifying meet in Mount Ayr, were injured in the mishap. Mount Ayr High School Secretary Diana Arends said the meet, scheduled to start at 4 p.m., has been postponed until 5 p.m. in order to accommodate the late-running Ogden runners.

The Iowa State Patrol is investigating the incident. The Minburn First Responders and Minburn Volunteer Fire Department responded, and the Dallas Center Volunteer Fire Department was paged for extrication equipment.
