A car fire at the Bouton Amroide station brought a quick response Saturday night from the Bouton Volunteer Fire Department.

A Granger 17-year-old was understandably alarmed Saturday about 6 p.m. when her vehicle caught fire at the Ampride gas station at the intersection of U.S. Highway 169 and Iowa Highway 141.

The Bouton Volunteer Fire Department responded to the incident and quickly brought the car fire under control.

There were no injuries in the incident.

Bouton firefighter Karl Harris said the vehicle was far enough away from the gasoline pumps and the store that the flames from the vehicle’s engine compartment posed little danger of spreading.

Harris said the cause of the fire did not appear to be suspicious.
