EARLHAM — Woodward-Granger was unable to put any runs on the scoreboard until the top of the seventh inning Friday as Earlham posted a 6-1 win in WCAC softball.

Earlham (8-2, 6-1) had scored once in the first frame and four times in the fourth to grab a 5-0 lead, then went up 6-0 with a tally in the sixth.

W-G (4-6, 2-5) scored when Georgia Simmons walked, followed by singles from Bella McDivitt and Chloe Houge. An Emma Anderson single plated Simmons to erase the goose egg.

Anderson had two hits and a stolen base in the loss, with Rian Jamison adding a single and Ava Petersen a double, with Simmons drawing two walks and Anderson one.

Jamison was touched for six runs — only two of them earned — on 10 hits and two walks in six frames. She finished with three strikeouts.

Alli Boyle had three hits for the Cardinals, with Cora Boyle, Alexis Voss and Katie Janssen each providing a pair of singles.

Cora Boyle pitched four innings, allowing four hits and two walks with three strikeouts. Madeline Janseen yielded a run on two hits and a walk while fanning four.

W-G hosts Ogden Monday, visits Madrid Tuesday and plays a varsity twin bill against visiting Des Moines Christian Thursday. They will then visit SE Valley Friday to cap a busy week of five games in five days.
