Carolyn Guay of Perry

Carolyn Guay, 81, of Perry passed away Sunday, June 30, 2024, at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.

Carolyn Dee Wright was born Oct. 13, 1942, to Floyd Sansom and Edna “Irene” (Ballantyne) Wright in Burlington, Iowa.

She attended school in Lamoni, graduating from Lamoni High School. She went on to attend Graceland College and Iowa State University, receiving her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education.

Carolyn married Louis Henri Guay on July 16, 1965, in Ames, Iowa.

She applied her artistic skills broadly — in sculpting, painting, various needlecrafts, drawing tessellations, quilling and more. She also enjoyed gardening and was sure to keep the birds fed year-round.

Carolyn is survived by her son, Damien (Shem) Aronofsky; and grandchildren, Adelaide and Amelia.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis; and parents, Floyd and Irene Wright.
