Cemetery saddles strewn in Thursday thunder storms

A number of headstone saddles in Violet Hill Cemetery were displaced by recent high winds. The cemetery staff has collected the overblown decorations in the sexton's office, where they may be retrieved and replaced.

The staff at Violet Hill Cemetery found several decorative saddles blown off of their headstones Friday morning after the night’s high winds, according to Perry City Hall.

The saddles have been collected and placed in Sexton Richie Steadman’s the office for safekeeping.

If you are missing a headstone saddle, call Steadman at Violet Hill Cemetery at 515-465-2755 or stop in the cemetery office.
