The Perry Chamber of Commerce staged a ribbon cutting Friday morning at the recently opened Swan Antics at 1224-1226 Second St. in downtown Perry.

Swan Antics owner Alma Blougher Swanson got by with a little help from her friends, Dyan Bell, Kim Lentz and Sharon Walker, in hosting some 25 or more Chamber members, who were happy to enter the cozy shop on the frigid Friday.

Visitors enjoyed hotdogs, and the Rowley Masonic Community provided a dozen servings of caramel corn as a good-will gesture toward Swan Antics, which opened in mid-December. Blougher Swanson said the store has drawn a lot of local interest with its wide variety of antiques and collectibles.

The shop originally occupied the commercial space at 1226 Second St., but the display space filled up so quickly that Blougher Swanson chose to fill the room next door at 1224 Second St. The two units are connected in the rear of the premises and share the same water and electric meters, she said.

“It’s working out well with the two rooms,” Blougher Swanson said. “We also have a gathering area in the backroom, and people are welcome to reserve it for meetings, gatherings and related occasions.”

The store hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays. The telephone number is 515-689-2126.
