The Perry Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Friday morning at Bett and Bev’s BBQ, and a few moments of dark skies and high winds gave way to pulled pork and smoked chicken.

The smokehouse barbecue restaurant opens for business Tuesday at 408 First Ave., just south of the Verizon store, and the Chamber event officially welcomed Bett and Bev’s into the Perry commercial family.

Among the honored guests at the ribbon cutting were Jeff and Kim Roeder of Jefferson, parents of Bett and Bev’s BBQ owner Kye Roeder. Also on hand for the ceremonies were Dean “Butch” Glawe and Linda Glawe of Paton, whose mothers gave their son, Adam Glawe of Jefferson, the name of the first Bett and Bev’s BBQ, which opened in Jefferson in 2008. Linda was Bett’s daughter, and Butch was Bev’s son.

The regular weekly menu of the Bett and Bev’s BBQ in Perry can be seen on its website. Friday nights feature baby back pork ribs. Lunch is served Tuesday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., with Friday and Saturday hours from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
