If you have recently traveled down Iowa Street, you will have noticed a great improvement in the appearance of the sign at Perry Health Care Center.

Pastor Ken Bose of the neighboring Trinity Lutheran Church is a frequent guest of Perry Health Care Center, where he routinely ministers to the facility’s residents.

Bose has often said a main goal of Trinity Lutheran Church is to reach out to the community. The congregation has held cook-offs, family movie nights, dinners and other events in its outreach efforts, and Bose believes ministry must also extend outside the church’s walls.

The pastor also said he would like to see his congregation be a good neighbor to their friends to the west at the Perry Health Care Center, and he has put that desire into practice.

The outdoor sign along the front of Perry Health Care Center has seen better days and showed signs of wear. Without hesitation, Bose and Trinity Lutheran Church member Denny Peters saw this need and put their talents to use to repair the sign.

Residents, staff and visitors have been greatly pleased with the results.

Peters and Bose are living examples of the Bible verse Galatians 5:14: “For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.'”
