Candidates for city offices in Dallas County should present their paperwork — an affidavit of candidacy and a nomination petition with signatures — at the Dallas County Auditor’s office at 210 N. 10th St. in Adel.

Fourteen cities in Dallas County will hold elections for mayoral and city council seats. The list below provides a complete account of the positions up for election. Candidates for offices in Clive, Grimes, Urbandale and West Des Moines must file their paperwork at the office of the Polk County Auditor.
Eleven community school districts and one community college district lie within a portion of Dallas County. Along with the Perry Community School District, in which three school board seats are up for election in November, other districts lying partly in Dallas County are Adel-De Soto-Minburn, Dallas Center-Grimes, Earlham, Madrid, Panorama, Van Meter, Waukee, West Central Valley, West Des Moines and Woodward-Granger.
Most districts have one, two or three seats on the school board up for election. Both the Perry Community School District and the Woodward-Granger Community School District will have three seats on the ballot, and the Panorama Community School District will have one.
Dallas County lies wholly within the Des Moines Area Community College District, in which one seat on the board of directors is up for election.
