Funeral services for Clarice Ross, 106, of Perry will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 22 at the First United Methodist Church in Perry. Burial will be in Violet Hill Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. prior to the service on Saturday.

Clarice Helen Moody was born March 17, 1912, in Perry, Iowa, the daughter of Clarence and Lonnie (Jenner) Moody.

She graduated from Plymouth High School in Plymouth, Iowa, in 1930. Clarice attended two years of college at the University of Northern Iowa and two years at Drake University.

Clarice married George Vail Ross July 18, 1943, at the Methodist Church in Newton, Iowa. They moved to Perry in 1944.

She taught school in Woodward for two years and taught 18 years in the Perry Public School system.

Clarice was a member of the First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women (Sarah Circle), Delta Kappa Gamma International and the Perry Women’s Club.

Survivors include her son Gary Ross of Perry; two granddaughters, Kristin (Mike) Ross of Mahomet, Ill., and Kelly (Mike) Harrity of Parker, Colo.; four step-grandchildren, Liza (Orlando) Thomas of Champaign, Ill., Jeff (Bridget) Johnson of Pearlington, Miss., Brad (Shelly) Johnson of Johnston and David Johnson of Kansas City, Mo.; five great-grandchildren and eight step-great grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and other extended family.

Preceding Clarice in death were her parents; husband on May 15, 1967; one brother, Chester Moody; two sisters, Hazel Moody and Viola Morgan; three step-daughters, Marjorie Coyne, Ruth Porter and Marian Gardiner; and her daughter-in-law, Liz Ross on Aug. 28, 2017.

Memorials in Clarice’s name will be directed to the First United Methodist Church or Delta Kappa Gamma International. They may be sent to Murdock Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left at murdockfuneralhome.net
