Clark Allen Dory, 84, of Perry passed away Friday, April 21, 2023, at the King’s Garden Campus of Perry Lutheran Homes in Perry, Iowa.

Visitation will be Thursday, April 27 from 2-7 p.m., with family present from 5-7 p.m., at the Carris Family Funeral Home and Cremation Care in Perry. Funeral services will be Friday, April 28 at 10:30 a.m. at the Crossroads Church in Perry. The service will be livestreamed at www.cr4u.org.

Clark was born Dec. 6, 1938, in Cumberland, Iowa, to Clark Chalmers and Valera Mae (Edwards) Dory.

He graduated from the Cumberland High School.

Clark served his country in the U.S. Army from Oct.8, 1961, to Oct.9, 1963.

Clark was united in marriage to Karen Jeannette Jacobs at the Pleasant Grove Congregational Church near Fontanelle, Iowa, on July 12, 1964.

He delivered newspapers in Cumberland and worked for Iowa Electric Light and Power Co., retiring in April 1997.

After retirement, Clark he worked at Harland Ace Hardware.

He was a member of the Crossroads Church and was a volunteer fireman in both Cumberland and Perry.

Clark enjoyed camping, going for drives, working in his yard, watching the birds and squirrels and watching basketball and football, especially the Los Angeles Rams and Iowa Hawkeyes.

He loved going to his children’s and grandchildren’s school activities and sporting events.

In death he rejoins his parents, Clark and Valera Dory; sisters, Marilyn Bernhardt, Nancy Copher and Margaret Hardy; and his stepmother, Anna Dory.

Left to cherish Clark’s memory are his wife, Karen Dory, Perry; children, David (Mary) Dory of Mitchellville and Sarah (Duane) Bucklew of Perry; grandchildren, Ashley Bucklew, Bryce Bucklew, Garrhett Bucklew, Jared Dory and Hope Bucklew; great-grandchildren, Sophia, Ariana, Jaxen and Danee; sisters, Beverly Lamansky, Rosemary Schrier, Shirley Ruge and Sandy (Don) Schlotzhauer; and a sister-in-law, Emera Maynard.
