W-G's Dylan Garland -- seen here pitching against Earlham June 19 -- was the starter for the Hawks Tuesday against host CMB.

COLLINS — Host CMB used eight hits and eight walks to post a 9-4 win over Woodward-Granger in non-conference baseball Tuesday.

The Hawks (15-10) scored once in each of the first two innings to grab an early lead, but a Raider tally in the third and four runs in the fourth have the hosts a 5-2 edge.

The lead grew to 7-2 after five innings, and although W-G scored once in each of their final two at-bats it was not enough to offset their deficit, which had grown to 9-3 after both teams had batted in the sixth.

Dylan Garland suffered the loss on the hill. He yielded five runs — none of them earned — on four hits and five walks while striking out four in 3-2/3 innings. Jackson Larson tossed 2-1/3  innings of relief, allowing four runs (two earned) on four hits and three walks. He finished with two strikeouts.

Race Brant was 3-for-4 and had two RBIs to lead the W-G offense, with Mike Connor adding a double while Alex Bodermann drove in a run.

W-G will host Gilbert Wednesday, Ogden Thursday and Madrid in a make-up game Friday to conclude their regular season. The Hawks will play the winner of North Polk and Woodward Academy July 14 in Ogden at 7 p.m. in a Class 2A District 14 Semifinal.
