A Celebration of Life service for Colleen Wilson, 88, of Perry will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 21 at First United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry, Iowa. Visitation is planned from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, April 20 at First United Methodist Church.

Zeneta Colleen Wilson, most fondly known as “Auntie,” was born on Nov. 14, 1934, in Polk County, Iowa, to Harold and Hazel (Carr) Groff and passed away on Sunday, April 16, 2023, at the Perry Lutheran Homes’ King’s Garden Campus in Perry, Iowa.

Colleen lived most of her life in Perry, where she attended Perry schools.

She was united in marriage to Robert D. Wilson on Sept. 19, 1959.  To this union was born one daughter, Penney.

Colleen was a homemaker and loved to cook and bake. She was well known for making the best sugar cookies and pumpkin bread.

Colleen liked to shop and never missed an opportunity to go shopping at Walmart.

In the summers, she enjoyed going to Jane’s house to listen to country music bands play and spend time with her family in the back yard.

Colleen is survived by her husband, Robert D. Wilson of Perry; daughter, Penney (Shawn) Sells of Perry; several nieces; nephews; cousins; and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Ronnie Groff, Gene Groff, Jerry Hutchins, Danny Joe Hutchins, Fred Hutchins and Roger Hutchins; and sister, Linda Sloss.

Memorials can be made to Raccoon Valley Pet Rescue and sent to Murdock Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left at murdockfuneralhome.net.
