Another color has been added to the diverse palette of Perry’s downtown dining with the opening Thursday of Common Wealth Provisions at 1215 Second St.

The deli-style restaurant offers a variety of sandwiches made with ham, turkey and beef.

Former Perry High School student and Common Wealth Provisions owner Jeremy Mahler said he was feeling the love at Thursday’s opening in spite of the stormy weather.

“Thanks to everyone that came in and got a sandwich or has extended words of support,” Mahler said on the store’s Facebook page. “What an overwhelming feeling to be embraced so wholly from a community.”

The deli-style restaurant offers comfortable seating in the ample commercial space that served as Perry Floral for about a minute one year ago. Mahler and his staff were busy behind the counter.

“We served a lot of sandwiches today and will work on making the wait time smaller,” he said.

  1. It’s great to have another option for lunch. I had the Italian beef. It might have been the best I have ever had. Keep up the good work.
