On Tuesday, March 2, 2021, Connee Thompson, loving mother and wife of 57 years, passed away at the age of 78, following her second battle with cancer.
Connee was born Aug. 24, 1942, at the Des Moines Lutheran Hospital, where she later returned to study as a nurse and work as post-surgical nurse for most of her life.
Connee was an avid sports fan and could often be found in the presence of her husband, enjoying basketball, baseball, hockey, volleyball and football.
She loved to travel and experience new things.
She was active in the congregation and service at Heartland Presbyterian.
Graced with a generous spirit, Connee’s caring and compassion was reflected both in her parenting and profession, offering compassion to patient throughout the years.
She immensely enjoyed being a grandparent, never missing her grandchildren’s events, hockey, volleyball, baseball, debate tournaments, show choir, marching band and every activity in between.
When not on the go, she made sure the house was always filled with the pleasant smells of baked goods, especially making cookies for her grandkids.
Connee was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Margaret Harrison.
She is survived by her husband, Jim; son, Travis; daughter, Traci (Rich) Vickery; and grandkids, Jacob, Joshua, Kaitlyn and Nathan.
Funeral services will be a private family service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Cross Outreach.
