The city of Perry weekly yard waste collection will continue until Wednesday, Dec. 5/ The dates for the open burning of yard waste are Wednesday, Oct. 31 until Tuesday, Nov. 20.

Swayed by the mildness of the season and the abundance of leaves yet to fall from town trees, the Perry City Council voted Monday night to extend the deadlines for yard waste removal and open burning.

Two additional dates for curbside yard waste removal were added to the Perry Public Works Department schedule: Wednesday, Nov. 29 and Wednesday, Dec. 6.

Residents are reminded that all yard waste except tree, bush or brush materials are to be placed in paper yard waste bags, with a maximum weight of 40 pounds, and set near the street curb in front of the residence.

All tree, bush and brush materials are to be bundled and tied in maximum lengths of four feet, with a maximum weight of 40 pounds, and set near the street curb in front of the residence.

To assure prompt pick-up, place your yard waste at the curb by 7 a.m.

In addition to the added curbside dates, the council voted to reopen the window for the open burning of yard waste, beginning Monday, Nov. 27 and ending Wednesday, Dec. 6.

All burning must take place between the hours of 10 a.m. and sundown.

Burning is restricted to private property, must take place in the rear of the property and must be supervised at all times.

All burning must take place at least 30 feet from any building inhabited by persons other than the landowner or tenant who is doing the open burning.

The city of Perry encourages residents to find alternative methods to open burning for yard waste disposal.
