Perry senior Kailey Crawford has officially declared her intention to continue her soccer career for Wayne State College in Nebraska.
Wayne State is an NCAA Division II team in soccer and competes in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. The Wildcats were 6-9-4 in 2019, with the 2020 season cancelled by concerns over COVID-19. The team is coached by Joe Cleary, who will be in his fourth year.
Crawford had 10 goals and two assists for the Jayettes as a sophomore. Perry was 8-10 overall in 2019, with a 3-4 mark in conference play. No season was held this spring. Crawford has committed fully to the sport, participating in camps and playing on league teams in the Des Moines metro area.
She becomes the second Jayette to play a collegiate sport for the Wildcats, follwing PHS 2015 grad Maggie Lowe, who was a regular on the basketball court for Wayne State.
