Creston man arrested for choking woman, brandishing firearm

Kevin Lee Davis, 30, of Creston was arrested Monday on charges of domestic abuse assault-impeding flow of air/blood, first-degree burglary and violation of a no-contact order.

A Creston man was arrested Monday morning after allegedly choking a Waukee woman and pointing a pistol at her male friend.

Kevin Lee Davis, 30, of 208 N. Maple St., Creston, was charged with domestic abuse assault-impeding flow of air/blood, first-degree burglary and violation of a no-contact order.

The incident began about 5:45 a.m. Monday in the 1100 block of Mapleleaf lane in Waukee, where officers of the Waukee Police Department responded to a report of a man holding “one person at gunpoint,” according to court records.

The officers detained Davis and made contact with the female victim, who said that Davis “kicked the door in to her residence and had possession of a black and silver handgun” that he “used to intimate the other victim,” who “was able to escape the residence and call 911,” according to court records.

The victim told the officers that Davis “choked” her and “also pointed a gun at her friend before choking her and blocking her airway,” according to court records.

The officers observed on the victim “redness and marks on her neck from being choked,” according to court records. The victim said the she “got light-headed during this situation but was able to escape.”

Davis is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $30,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Dec. 16 in Dallas County District Court.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
