Crime Stoppers seek public’s help in solving Creston homicide

Law enforcement seeks the public's help in solving the case of the death of Paul Allen Scheel, 45, of Creston, whose lifeless body was found in his home Feb. 14, 2018.

DES MOINES, Iowa — On Valentine’s Day 2018 at about 8:17 p.m., officers with the Creston Police Department conducted a welfare check at 300 E. Montgomery St., #3, in Creston and found the lifeless body of Paul Allen Scheel, 45, who lived in the apartment.

An autopsy the following day showed that Scheel was the victim of a homicide.

Since Feb. 14, 2018, the Creston Police Department and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation Major Crime Unit have worked to find the person or persons responsible for Scheel’s death. Despite the work, this case remains unsolved.

Law enforcement and Crime Stoppers of Central Iowa are partnering to ask for the public’s help in solving this crime. Crime Stoppers of Central Iowa is offering a reward up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons involved in the homicide of Scheel.
