The cured-in-place-pipe (CIPP) sanitary sewer lining project is being carried out by Insituform Technologies USA LLC, a subsidiary of Aegion Corp. of Chesterfield, Missouri, at a cost to Perry taxpayers of $183,491.

Work crews will begin mobilizing equipment Monday, March 13 for a sewer repair project along First Avenue from Willis Avenue southward to Ann Street, the Perry City Hall announced Friday.

The cured-in-place-pipe (CIPP) sanitary sewer lining project will be done by Chesterfield, Missouri-based Insituform Technologies USA at a cost to city taxpayers of $183,491.

The project will take several weeks to complete, depending on the weather, the city hall said. All work will occur underground within the city’s sanitary sewer system.

Insituform Technologies USA will distribute notices to residents in impacted areas 24 to 48 hours prior to lining the sewer pipes in those areas.

The city urges property owners or occupiers to inspect the floor drains in their buildings in order to verify that water is present in the P-traps. The water in the P-traps prevents fumes in the sewer line from entering the buildings through the drains. Where P-traps are dry, fumes from the contractor’s CIPP operations, smelling like a paint shop, might enter buildings.

During construction activities, travelers on Iowa Highway 144 will find traffic-control devices directing them safely around the work areas. Motorists and pedestrians are asked to use caution around the work areas on First Avenue.
