An electrical fire broke out Friday afternoon at 1906 Maple St. in Dallas Center in a house owned by Gayle and Karyl Palmer.

The Dallas Center Volunteer Fire Department responded to the early afternoon blaze and called for mutual aid from the fire departments in Adel, Grimes and Minburn.

There were no injuries in the fire. The cause of the blaze is also unknown at this hour.

Dallas Center Police Chief Michelle Leonard said the house was empty at the time of the fire. Leonard said neighbors called in with a report of smoke and an electrical odor. Electrical power in the vicinity was lost during the incident, she said.

As the building smoldered from the fire on its east side, firefighters could be seen tearing siding from the residential structure and hosing the interior.

The Dallas Center Volunteer Fire Department did not return repeated calls for information.
