Dallas Center man charged with drunk driving, child endangerment

Jefferey John Cain, 35, of Dallas Center was arrested Friday on a charge of first-offense OWI and child endangerment.

A Dallas Center man was arrested Friday night after allegedly driving his truck while drunk and while his minor son was in the vehicle.

Jefferey John Cain, 35, of 1107 Maple St., Dallas Center, was charged with first-offense OWI and child endangerment.

The incident began about 11 p.m. Friday in the 1100 block of Maple Street in Dallas Center, where Dallas County Deputy Sheriffs observed Cain in or around a 2018 Ford F150 and presenting with “slurred speech, bloodshot watery eyes and an odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath,” according to court records.

Cain allegedly told the deputies that he “operated  a motor vehicle while intoxicated while his son was in the vehicle,” according to court records.

Cain is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $2,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing April 1 in Dallas County District Court.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
