Two veteran members of the Dallas County Conservation Board of Directors are nearing the ends of their terms and were thanked for their years of service at the board’s December meeting Tuesday night at Forest Park Museum in Perry.

Ten-year board member Glenn Vondra of Adel and nine-year member Jim Miller of West Des Moines were presented certificates of appreciation by Dallas County Conservation Director Mike Wallace, who thanked the board members for their service to the health and well being of Dallas County residents and others.

Miller received his certificate in person, and Vondra, attending via conference call from Texas, received his certificate by proxy.

The five-member conservation board meets monthly, managing the department’s $1.7 million budget, setting policy and overseeing the department’s activities, including the county’s 25 parks and nature areas and the popular Raccoon River Valley Trail.
