The Dallas County First Responder Association hosted their eighth annual mini-conference March 8 at the county’s training facility.
This conference provided free medical and trauma training to all First Responder agencies in Dallas County. This year’s conference training topics included:
- training in the common types of lung diseases and how to care for patients with them
- burn types and how to care for them
- recognition and assessment of stroke patient
- diabetic emergencies
- abdominal anatomy and common injuries
- human trafficking issues in Iowa
Twenty-six first responders attended from the local area, and each walked away with greater understanding of the topics. Attendees also received credit for six formal hours of continuing education that they can now apply toward their state recertification.
Instruction was provided by Dallas County EMS paramedics and Federal Prosecuting Attorneys.
Tyson Fresh Meats in Perry donated pig lungs for use in the training.
“The Dallas County First Responder Association would like to thank the instructors and Tyson Fresh Meats for their help in keeping the people who respond to emergencies in the county current to all the latest medical information,” said a spokesperson from the association.
“The Dallas County First Responder Association will host the ninth annual mini-conference in March 2019 and will continue to strive to make Dallas County a great place to live,” the spokesperson said.
