- Shane Uptagrafft of Racine, Minn., was traveling west near the 112 mile marker of U.S. Interstate 80 when his vehicle dropped onto the shoulder, and Uptagrafft lost control of the vehicle, which struck a guardrail in the median. No injuries were reported. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $8,000. Uptagrafft was issued a citation for failure to maintain control.
- Troy Stevens of 1705 Walnut St., Dallas Center, reported his credit card was used several times without his authorization.
January 4, 2018
- Jason Richard Spence, 40 of 204 Fifth St., Minburn, was arrested in the 21000 block of Midland Trail for driving while barred, eluding, failure to obey a stop sign, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to maintain control and reckless driving.
- Sandra Knowles, 36, of 801 E. Watrous Ave., Des Moines, was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear on an original charge of theft.
- Jesus Ponce Jr. of Urbandale was traveling north on Y Avenue when he fell asleep while driving and then awoke and attempted to swerve away from a light pole but lost control of the vehicle, which struck the pole and a street sign. No injuries were reported. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $3,000.
- Steve Blair of Adel was traveling in the 20000 block of Old Highway 6 when his vehicle struck a deer. No injuries were reported. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $3,000.
