January 9, 2020

  • Halla Mayhugh of Earlham was traveling near the 106 mile marker of U.S. Interstate 80 when a raccoon ran across the road, and Mayhugh swerved to avoid it, causing her vehicle to leave the roadway and enter the median, spinning and hitting the cable barrier. No injuries were reported. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $6,000, and damage to the cable barrier was estimated at $400.
  • Ashton Kooiker of Perry was traveling in the 14000 block of Bittersweet Road when a few deer entered the roadway, causing Kooiker to lose control of the vehicle, which entered the ditch. No injuries were reported. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $5,000.
  • Amanda Kay Hedrick, 34, of 6521 155th Ave., Indianola, was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear on an original charge of theft.
