Dec. 29, 2021

  • Phillip Stukenholtz of Perry was traveling on Iowa Highway 141 at Quinlan Ave when he signaled and slowed for a turn, and his vehicle was struck from the rear by a vehicle, driven by James Cavner of Minburn. A passenger was examined by the Dallas County EMS, but the passenger refused transport. Damage to Stukenholtz’s vehicle was estimated  at $7,000, and damage to Cavner’s vehicle was estimated at $6,000. Cavner was issued a citation for failure to stop in assured clear distance.

Dec. 30, 2021

  • Mark Benton, 60, of 2339 E. 38th St., Des Moines, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of contraband in a correctional institution.
  • Denise Yazel, 49, of 2540 Des Moines St., Des Moines, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of prescription drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia and issued a citation for operating a non-registered vehicle.
  • Demichole Deeds, 37, of 706 79th Place, West Des Moines, was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear.
  • Jasmine Fetters, 31, of 1148 36th St., Des Moines, was arrested on a warrant for possession of contraband in a correctional institution and possession of a controlled substance.
  • A juvenile driver from Adel was traveling in the 34000 block of L Avenue when he lost control on the slick roadway, and the vehicle sideswiped a truck with a snowplow, driven by Christopher Wilson of Stuart. No injuries were reported. Damage to the minor’s vehicle was estimated at $5,000. Damage to Wilson’s vehicle was estimated at $6,000.
  • Nathaniel Cobb of Ankeny was traveling in a FedEx truck near 290th Street and K Avenue when the vehicle was struck by a vehicle, driven by Owen Wagner of Panora. Cobb was transported to the hospital by Dallas County EMS. Damage to the Fed Ex truck was estimated at $10,000, and damage to Wagner’s vehicle was estimated at $6,000 damage. Wagner was issued a citation for failure to stop and yield right of way.
  • Sarah Schmitt of Waukee was traveling southbound on W Avenue near 200th Street when she lost control on the icy roadway, and her vehicle struck a vehicle, driven by Hannah Carlson of Granger, that was traveling northbound on W Avenue. No injuries were reported. Damage to Schmitt’s vehicle was estimated at $10,000, and damage to Carlson’s vehicle was estimated at $10,000. Schmitt was issued a citation for failure to provide proof of financial liability.

  • Christopher Cave, 42, of 1213 Grant St., Redfield, was arrested for driving while license denied or revoked.

Jan. 2, 2022

  • Beau Armstrong, 32, of 518 Willis Ave., Perry, was arrested for public intoxication.
  • Ashley Stawniak of Ames was traveling near 25747 N. Ave. when she attempted to make a turn, and her vehicle slid on the icy roadway and struck a mail box. No injuries were reported. Damage to Stawniak’s vehicle was estimated at $1,100, and damage to the mail box was estimated at $80.
  • Jose Mendez Rivas of Perry was traveling northbound on W Avenue near 190th Street when he lost control, and his vehicle entered the ditch. No injuries were reported. Damage to Rivas’ vehicle was estimated at $100, and damage to a sign in the ditch was estimated at $100.

Jan. 3, 2022

  • Kyle McGrath, 32, of 33019 370th Court, Van Meter, was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear.
  • Ryan Peak, 35, of 609 First Ave., Grinnell, was arrested on a warrant for probation violation.
  • Robert Swenson of Winterset was traveling in the 28000 block of 360th Street when his vehicle struck a deer. No injuries were reported. Damage was estimated at $1,500.
  • Dominick Gall of Jamaica was traveling in the 17000 block of Iowa Highway 141 when his vehicle struck a deer. No injuries were reported. Damage was estimated at $7,000.

Jan. 4, 2022

  • Kevin Tjaden, 33, of 5904 Muskogee Ave., Des Moines, was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear.
